Promotion of Young Talent

With the “Research Laboratories Microelectronics Germany (ForLab)”, for the first time a network has been created connecting 14 universities through a joint external presentation of their microelectronics research infrastructures. These structures are to be consolidated and expanded as part of the ForLab NataliE project (young talent for integrated electronics). Particular attention is to be paid to the aspect of recruiting young talent, which is increasingly becoming a limiting factor in the growth of the semiconductor industry in Germany and is of central importance for the future competitiveness of the German semiconductor industry.

To this end, cross-university formats for student training and the recruitment of young talent are to be conceptualized and piloted as nationwide examples of best practice. To this end, the members of the Forlab network are invited to submit corresponding project proposals. In a final short report, for example, best practice procedures, “lessons learned” or developed teaching material are to be recorded in order to ensure the transferability and, if necessary, scalability of the projects.
